Broken vacuum! So, who pays the house cleaner or the homeowner?
Angela Brown, The House Cleaning Guru says we replace things we
break while house cleaning. It's a cost of doing business.
But a broken vacuum is normal wear and tear and the maid is not
liable. Same rules apply for a toilet valve replacement as the
broken vacuum.
Sure, it may need vacuum repair, and you can apologize and be honest but set realistic expectations upfront. Replacement parts for old household items don't fall on the cleaning business owner or their employee.
When the maid arrives to clean the vacuum and toilet should be in working order. And they should leave them in the same condition.
